Cherry Orchard Crush being played: a match-three board of fruit with moves and a cherry goal

How it works

From a sentence to the feed in three steps.

  1. 01

    Type a sentence

Say what you want to play. Any genre, 2D or 3D. Add a sketch or a photo of your character if you like.

The Create screen: What if it was a game?
  2. 02

    Watch it build

Modder writes the code, makes the art, has a bot playtest it and fixes what breaks, then records a preview.

A finished build: writing the game, making the art, playtesting it and recording a preview, all done
  3. 03

    Play it, then share it

Your draft is private and playable right away. Publish it and it joins the feed for everyone to swipe into.

Foxwood Climb being played: a fox in a treehouse with on-screen controls

The feed

A For You page where every post is a game.

No installs, no menus, no waiting. The next game is already loaded behind the one you're looking at.

  • Swipe to the next game, like any feed.
  • Tap Play and it starts in about a fifth of a second.
  • Like, save, share and remix the ones you love.

Creating

What if it was a game?

Puzzles, platformers, racers, shooters, tower defense, a board game for two. Describe it the way you'd tell a friend. Modder picks a 2D or 3D builder for the idea, and you get a private, playable draft.

Your artUp to four images: characters, places, a sketch.
2D or 3DQuick and juicy, or worlds with cameras and light.
Plays on a phoneFixed sticks and buttons, made for thumbs, with haptics on every hit.
✦ A bubble arena with candy-colored rivals✦ A tiny plane between impossibly tall towers✦ Sunset kart racing with playful opponents✦ A cozy tower defense with little forest guardians✦ A neon rooftop drone shootout✦ A jelly platformer where you bounce on clouds

Studio and remix

Keep building. Or build on someone else's.

Every game has a Studio: chat to change it, drag its knobs, swap its art, roll back to any version.

Your game's Studio

Plays, likes, saves and remixes at a glance. Keep building in chat: say what should change and get a new version.

Tune it by hand

Starting moves, gravity, spawn rates: drag to taste. Saving makes a new version in seconds, no rebuild.

Tune: sliders for starting moves, cherries to collect and fall acceleration

Remix anything

“But underwater.” “Make it 3D.” Add your twist to a game you love; the remix is yours, credited to the original.

What is Modder's iPhone app?

A feed of short games, like a For You page where every post is playable. Swipe to the next one, tap Play and it starts in a moment. Every game on Modder was made by someone typing what they wanted to play.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe the game in a sentence, add pictures if you like, and Modder's builder writes the code, draws the art and playtests it. To change something, you say what should change.

How long does it take to make a game?

A few minutes for a playable draft. You can watch each step: writing the game, making the art, playtesting it and recording the preview for the feed.

Is it free?

Downloading the app and playing every game in the feed is free. Making and editing games uses credits, and the app shows what a build costs before you start it.

Who sees the games I make?

Only you, until you publish. Drafts stay private; a published game passes Modder's checks before it appears in the feed, and you can take it out again any time.

Can I play with friends?

Yes. Some games are for two players on one phone, others open a room: friends join with a link or a five-letter code from their own phones. You can also send a beat-my-score link.

Is the app on Android?

Modder's app is on iPhone only, listed on the App Store as Zapp: AI Game Maker. Everywhere else, play and make games right here on modder.gg. Links to games and creators open on any device, and straight in the app when you have it.

About Modder

Modder is a place to play free games in your browser and to make your own. Every game here runs right on the page: no downloads, no installs. Our own games sit next to games people made with Modder's maker, where you describe a game in a sentence and it gets built, playtested and published.

There's also Modder's iPhone app: a feed of games to swipe through, play in a tap, and make on the go.
